March 2015 - Women in the single women's camp held a peaceful protest over their treatment and were then taken to Nauru jail and held in these conditions. 

as of october 2016, 500 people, including 50 children,
are in offshore detention on nauru as they
attempt to seek asylum in australia. 117 OF THESE ARE YOUNG, SINGLE WOMEN, MANY HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED RAPE AND PHYSICAL VIOLENCE.
